Reminds me of the Society of the Divine Word in Techny, IL, a Roman Catholic missionary order. The main, high altar is, or was, surrounded, behind a wall, with multiple small altars set in the arc of the apse. As I recall, there was the name of a specific nation or other entity on a small engraved plate attached to each altar. Presumably, each daily Mass offered on a given altar was offered for that entity.
