St. Anselm, Doctor of the Church

"I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this too I believe, that unless I first believe, I shall not understand" St. Anselm of Canterbury (d. 21 April 1109).

Well, this is one good reason not to be Anglican (or Roman Catholic), not because of this quote, which I think actually goes back to Augustine, but because of his treatise "Why God became human."
